Idera Pharmaceuticals discovers and develops novel therapeutics that modulate immune responses through specific Toll-like receptors (TLRs). TLRs are a family of immune system receptors. They signal initiation of immune responses when they detect invasion by a pathogen, such as bacteria or virus. As a result, TLRs are proving to be promising targets in drug discovery for potential treatment of multiple diseases, including cancer, infectious, respiratory, and, autoimmune diseases, and for use in combination with therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines.
